At ResDiary we’re massive dog fans. We’re the kind of people who chase pooches down the street for a sly pat, spend all our lunch breaks on Dog Rates, and beg colleagues to bring their pups into the office. That’s why we’ve put together this list of dog friendly pubs in Manchester. Whether you own a dog, or you just like to spend your days surrounded by them, we’ve got the paw-fect spot for you.
Bay Horse Tavern
Ah. A “proper pub.” Think gorgeous fireplaces, cosy nooks, and some really great beers. Oh, and doggos of course. This gorgeous Manchester spot is the perfect place to hang out with Fido, whether you’re heading down for brunch, lunch, or dinner. They serve up classic pub dishes like steak and ale pie, gammon and egg, and fish and chips, all cooked to the highest standards. With a selection of cask and craft beers, some impressive cans from breweries like Beavertown and Blackjack, this is the perfect place to head after a long walk.
Who knew that this impressive German bierhall was one of the most dog friendly pubs in Manchester? We did! With it’s delicious German-inspired food, head here to enjoy some schnitzel after giving Rover a great walk in the park. We’d particularly recommend visiting on a Sunday (the classic dog-walk-and-dinner day) for one of their Cook Haus roasts, featuring pork belly, beef, chicken, and mushroom and butternut strudel.

Black Dog Ballroom
With a name like this, these guys couldn’t be anything but dog friendly. This dogone cool venue is a pool room, bar, and restaurant and just a great place to hang with your furry bestie. The perfect place to gather the gang together, we recommend heading down on a Wednesday where games of pool are free when you buy a drink, and trying out their tasty wings. (Remember and slip some under the table for the little guy.)
Another one with an appropriate name, take your little (or large) animal to Beastro and you’ll both get to enjoy loads of tasty tasty meat. Starting out as a street food stall, these guys recently opened a permanent venue in the city centre. Here, they serve up treats like ham hock croquettes, Lancashire hogget heart with crispy lambs breast, and slow roasted wild mushroom risotto for the veggies. It’s the perfect spot for you and your pupper to refuel after chasing squirrels. (Don’t lie, we know you join in.)
The Liquor Store
Disclaimer: we are not advocating giving your dog liquor. (One of our dogs once got into a glass of wine and the following day was enjoyable for no one.) However, we do advocate taking your hairy friend to one of the most dog friendly pubs in Manchester. These guys will happily whip you up an incredible cocktail, or some lovely grub, and even provide water for Fido. Don’t paws, get booking!
No.1 Canal Street
Canal Street is not the first place that usually springs to mind when you think about dog friendly pubs in Manchester. Better known for its raucous party atmosphere, it’s actually a great place to hang out with your dog if you head to No.1 Canal Street. This bright and airy spot serves up delicious food and drinks all day and is the perfect place to stop off if you’re wandering the streets of Manchester. Head down for their two-course lunch menu at just £11.50 for dishes like steak frittes and goats cheese crostinis, and treat yourselves to a relaxing afternoon.
